Eligibility Criteria
To apply and get Free Rooftop Solar Panel and 300 Units, Free Electricity households must fulfill the following eligibility and criteria:
Free Electricity for Families
Under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, one crore (10 million) households will receive 300 units of free electricity each month. This will not only significantly lower electricity bills for middle and low-income families but will also contribute to reducing the nation’s overall power consumption.
Solar Panel Installation Support
The government will offer financial aid to cover up to 40% of the cost of solar panels for eligible households, easing the transition to renewable energy.
Income Opportunity
Households can also benefit by selling excess power generated by the solar panels back to local electricity distribution companies (DISCOMs), offering a potential additional income stream.

Application Process
Citizens can apply online through the official portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in. The step-by-step process involves:
Step 1
Go to the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana official Website
Register Your Details including: State, Electricity Distribution Company (DISCOM), Electricity Consumer Number, Mobile Number, Email Address.
Use your Electricity Consumer Number and Mobile Number to log in.
Step 2
Complete the online application form for rooftop solar panel installation.
Provide necessary details such as roof area, energy consumption, and any prior subsidy records.
After submitting your application, Your local DISCOM will verify the details.
Once approved, you’ll receive permission to proceed.
Step 3
Have the solar panels installed by a registered vendor associated with your DISCOM.
Ensure installation complies with the guidelines provided.
Apply for a Net Meter. Submit the plant details through the portal.
Step 4
DISCOM will inspect the installation and issue a commissioning certificate via the portal.
Upload your bank account details and a canceled cheque on the portal.
Once all steps are completed, the government will transfer the subsidy directly to your bank account within 30 days.
